Wedding suit packages at Ed's Fine Imports in Markham start at $495.99 per person plus tax for the Silver package, $695.99 for Gold, and $1,299.99 for Platinum. Each price includes the suit, a dress shirt, a silk tie or bow tie, and a pocket square, with a minimum of four suits per wedding party. Everyone keeps their suit.
What does each wedding suit package include?
Every package includes a suit in slim or classic fit, a dress shirt, a silk tie or bow tie from a select collection, and a pocket square. The difference is the suit and the extras, as listed on the wedding packages page.
- Silver, $495.99 per person plus tax. Suit, dress shirt, silk tie or bow tie, pocket square. Add shoes for $100. Best for groomsmen who will not wear a suit often.
- Gold, $695.99 per person plus tax. A 100% wool suit with fabric made in Italy, a wrinkle-free cotton dress shirt, silk tie or bow tie, pocket square, and a custom embroidered garment bag. Add a vest for $200 or shoes for $100. The one most grooms pick: wool breathes, photographs well, and works as a business suit afterward.
- Platinum, $1,299.99 per person plus tax. A high-end European suit made in Italy, wrinkle-free cotton dress shirt, silk tie or bow tie, pocket square, socks, underwear, custom embroidery, and the embroidered garment bag. Add a vest for $250. For a groom who wants a suit he will wear for years.
Boys' suits are available at a reduced price within any package, so a ring bearer can match the men without paying the adult rate. A made-to-measure suit for the groom starts at $1,095 plus tax (Italian fabrics, made in Canada).
Should you buy or rent wedding suits?
Buy, in most cases. A rental goes back the next day. A Silver suit at $495.99 is yours for every interview, funeral, and dinner that follows; wear it six more times and you are under $100 a wear, and falling.
Fit is the other reason. A rental is adjusted to close enough. A purchased suit is altered to you: sleeves, jacket waist, hem and taper, and it shows in every photo. Renting makes sense for a one-off tuxedo a man will never wear again, or a party on a very tight budget. We would rather say so than sell you something you will not use. For a black tie wedding, the Jack Victor Black Tuxedo ($1,295) is a tuxedo you will wear for a decade.
How many weeks before the wedding should you order suits?
Start four to six months out, and no later than eight weeks before the date. The suits are in stock; the time is for measuring every groomsman, bringing in any sizes we need, and a final fitting two to three weeks before the wedding. May through September is busy, so book earlier. The groom comes in first to choose the suit and package; the groomsmen follow at their own pace. Closer than eight weeks, call 905-489-0809 before assuming it cannot be done. It often can.
How does it work if groomsmen live out of town?
The party does not need to come in together. Local groomsmen drop in whenever suits them. Out-of-town groomsmen send measurements (we tell them exactly what to measure), we pull the right size, and they are fitted when they arrive for the wedding or by a tailor near them. Suits can also ship within Canada and to the US, free over $75, with duties possible on imported brands for US addresses.
Which suits work for a wedding party?
Three in stock now cover the usual budgets. The Renoir Black Suit, Slim ($349.99) is a two-button, double-vented slim suit with a 6 inch drop, in sizes from 34 Short to 52 Regular. The Paul Betenly Ronaldo Suit in Navy ($795) is 100% Super 120's wool from Biella, Italy, in a modern fit with a 7 inch drop pant. The Jack Victor Year Round Navy ($1,095) is a Super 150's wool suit in the Century modern fit, Canadian tailored, which matters for US orders. Browse everything in the suits collection.
A note on fit. Suits are sized by chest and length (Short, Regular, Tall), with a set trouser drop: a 42R Ronaldo comes with a 35 inch pant. Nearly every suit needs a sleeve, hem, or waist adjustment. Between sizes, take the larger jacket; a waist tapers far more easily than it lets out.
Common questions
Is there a minimum number of suits for a package?
Yes, four, usually the groom plus three groomsmen, or fathers counted in. Below four, each man buys at the regular price and we still help coordinate colours and ties.
Are alterations included in the package price?
Alterations are done in house as part of the fitting. Bring your wedding shoes so the hem is right, and ask when you book whether any alteration charge applies to your package.
Do groomsmen have to wear the same suit as the groom?
No. Packages are per person, so the groom can be in Gold or Platinum and the groomsmen in Silver, same colour family or a different colour altogether.
Can the groom get a custom suit while the groomsmen use a package?
Yes. Made-to-measure starts at $1,095 plus tax, and the groomsmen can be on any package. Allow extra time for a custom suit: ask us for the current lead time when you book.
