First, we should clarify what we mean by a “menswear basic” because it’s arguable that what’s basic for one man may not be basic for another.
Your basics, and everything you wear, should adhere to a principle of quality over quantity. A basic is generally a solid, neutral colour, so that it will fit into a wider range of outfits. And a basic should reflect that you are aware of current men's fashion style, without being trendy.
Alright, let’s get to it!
Add These Menswear Basics to Your Wardrobe this Summer
-
The Henley Navy Tee - Hey, what’s summer without a t-shirt? You probably have lots of options even for basics here. But if you haven’t broken out of the white or light colours for plain t-shirts, this is the one to do it with. The buttons let you dial up or down the style or warmth. It’s a lightweight, 100% cotton for comfort to match the style.
-
The Andretti Short-Sleeve Shirt - If you follow Formula 1 motor racing, you’ll still spot Mario Andretti here and there. If not, look him up. He’s one of the greatest racers ever, having won both the Indy 500 and a Formula 1 World Championship. And when you do the research, check his style. From climbing out of his race car after taking the checkered flag at the 1969 Indianapolis 500, to walking hand-in-hand with Gaga, you’ll not find a photo of him where his style isn’t cool, crisp and on point. This shirt is worthy.
- Hill Shorts - They call it “beach-to-bar” and it means this one’s good to go for a day in the sun and a night under the stars. What more can you ask for from one of your wardrobe basics?
