Jack Victor sport coats are cut and sewn in Montreal by a family company that has made tailored clothing since 1913. The jackets we stock run $995 to $1,295 CAD, use Italian wool (Super 110s and 130s), and come in two fits: Tailored (Midland, Hampton) and Regular (Esprit, Erie). Here is how they fit, how to size them, and what is in stock.
What makes Jack Victor sport coats different?
Two things: they are actually made in Canada, and the cloth is good. Jack Victor built its Montreal factory in 1951 and still produces there, three generations into the same family. That is rare at this price.
Fabric is the other half. The current Midland jackets are 100% wool in Super 110s and 130s. Comfortwear blends wool with cotton, silk, and a little elastane so the jacket moves with you, and there is a spring jacket in viscose made from bamboo.
The Midland sport coats are unconstructed and half lined. In plain terms: light shoulders, less lining, and a jacket that drapes instead of standing up on its own. That is what you want in a coat you will wear with jeans as often as dress pants.
How do Jack Victor blazers fit, and how do I pick a size?
Start with your suit size, and if you are between sizes, take the larger one. That is Jack Victor's own advice on the product pages: a tailor can take in a waist, but nobody can add cloth.
Jack Victor names its fits by model, and the model is in every product title:
- Tailored Fit (Midland, Hampton, Hartford, Montana, McAllen): slimmer proportions and a shaped waist. Most of our sport coats are Midland or Hampton.
- Regular Fit (Esprit, Engel, Erie, Ethan, Elwood, Concord): the same shoulder with more room through the chest and waist. Start here if you carry weight in the middle.
Lengths come in Short, Regular, and Long (Jack Victor says Tall). Regular on a size 40 runs about 29.5 to 30.25 inches down the back, which suits men from roughly 5 foot 8 to 6 foot 1. Under that, take a Short; over it, a Long. Sleeves are easy to shorten, so never size up for arm length alone. We hold one or two pieces per size, so if you see yours online, it is the last one.

How do you wear a Jack Victor sport coat?
Keep the pants a different colour and texture from the jacket, or it reads as half a suit. Three combinations:
- Office: the grey plaid with a crisp dress shirt and navy dress pants. No tie needed.
- Dinner: the teal Conway or burgundy Esprit over a knit polo, with dark 34 Heritage jeans and loafers.
- Wedding guest: the bamboo Midland or the Comfortwear Hampton with light Alberto trousers and a pocket square.
Get the sleeves shortened to show a quarter inch of cuff; a small alteration that makes a $995 jacket look made for you. Care: a wide hanger, a brush, and dry clean sparingly, as the label says.
Common questions
Is Jack Victor a good brand?
Yes. It is the brand I put a man in when he wants one sport coat that will last a decade: Canadian made, Italian wool, a cut that does not chase trends. The trade-off is price. At $995 and up, it is not the buy for a jacket you will wear twice a year.
Do Jack Victor blazers run small or large?
True to your suit size in Regular Fit, a touch trimmer in Tailored Fit. Between sizes, take the larger and have the waist taken in rather than buying down for a slim look.
What is the difference between a Jack Victor sport coat and a blazer?
On our site, "SPJ" in the title means a sport jacket sold alone, and "CT" means a coat with matching trousers. A sport coat has a pattern or texture meant for different pants; a blazer is usually solid navy or black. Check the fabric and model name rather than the label.
Can I order a Jack Victor sport coat from the US, and will I pay duty?
Yes. Jack Victor jackets are made in Canada, so they can qualify for duty-free entry under CUSMA when shipped by courier. Customs makes the final call, so we cannot promise zero duty, but Canadian-made tailoring is your best bet for avoiding it.
Where to start
If you own one sport coat, make it grey: the Mid Grey Plaid Blazer at $995, or pick your size from the full Jack Victor collection. Shipping is free over $75 in Canada and the US, and because these are made in Canada, US duties are usually avoidable (imported brands may attract duties). Or come see us in Markham and try both fits side by side.
