5 Fitness Tips for Men Who Don’t Like to Workout

Posted on July 26 2019

Here are some of our fitness tips for men

In a recent post, we told you to “get fit” if you’re over 40 but still want to dress stylishly. But we know not every man wants to be tied to a fitness routine, wear embarrassing gym clothes and/or ride a bicycle all over the place. Still, even if you’re happy with your clothing style, fitness can help improve your mental and physical health.

The fitness tips for men we’ve listed below may not be like others you’ve seen. Instead, they are aimed at getting more physical activity into your day to begin improving your health - and they have the effortless bonus of maybe even helping you look better than ever in anything you wear, from blazers to jeans!

Try These Fitness Tips for Men Who Don’t Want to Workout

No personal trainer. No bench presses. And you don’t need to know all your different muscle groups. But you’ll still get lots of benefits.

  1. Eliminate the Barriers - What is it you don’t like about exercising? Once you identify that, eliminate it. Don’t like spending money on a gym or equipment. So don’t. Hate to get sweaty? You don’t have to. Not interested in devoting your life to fitness? Not a problem. The point is, try to get to what’s really between you and better health and don’t let it get in your way.

  2. Find Ways in Your Day to Be More Active - How many times have you driven around the mall parking lot forever trying to find the closest spot. Why waste your time? Grab a quick spot further from the entrance and get some steps in. If you’re standing in line at the food court, try pushing yourself up and down on your tiptoes. And when you’re carrying the grocery bags back to the car, do a few arm curls.

  3. Don’t Spend Too Much Time - If you do try to exercise regularly, it doesn’t have to be an hour-long torture session. Set the timer on your phone or watch for 10 minutes. Do your thing and when the tone sounds, stop.

  4. Make the Exercises Work For You - If getting down on the floor to do a push-up is too uncomfortable, or just not going to happen, try doing them using the kitchen counter. If you don’t even want to get off the couch, try sitting up as straight as you can and lifting your knees to your chest 10 times, or five, or just once.

  5. Turn Chores into Workouts - Pick up the pace a bit when you’re mowing the lawn. Hate cleaning the house? Make it a game. Put on your most rocking playlist and try to set a new world record time.
